Americans Don’t Need a Passport to Play at Bolongo Bay

The U.S. Virgin Islands, which includes the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort’s home of St. Thomas, are one of a handful of places in the world (Puerto Rico is another) that American citizens can visit without having a U.S. passport.

So it’s “No passport? No Problem” when you’re ready to travel to the American Caribbean!

Less than half of Americans have a passport, and a new U.S. passport costs $110: multiply that by every member of your family who is traveling, and it can be a significant added cost. It gets even more expensive if you’re planning a trip soon: processing a new passport order takes four to six weeks, and there are hefty added fees for expedited service.

We’re not suggesting that you shouldn’t get a passport at some point — it sure comes in handy when you want to travel outside the U.S. — but if you don’t have one now then all you need to visit Bolongo is a government-issued photo ID (like a state driver’s license or military ID) and proof of U.S. citizenship for when you depart the U.S. Virgin Islands, such as a raised-seal birth certificate.

That’s why we say that Bolongo Bay is your passport to fun — even when you don’t have one!
