Sister properties Bolongo Bay Beach Resort and The Inn at Villa
Olga, both located in St. Thomas, are offering specially-priced
three-night packages starting at $802 per person, which include
admission for the three-day Painting Gypsies workshop. Artists and
painting enthusiasts can enhance their skills as part of The
Painting Gypsies "Adventures in Plein-Air Painting" workshops which
are being held this May in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The
"Adventures in Plein-Air Painting" workshops provide individualized
instruction from plein-air instructor and painter César Jerez as
well as group critiques. Plein Air painting focuses on the process
of painting as well as the influences of the great outdoors on
artwork. Participants will also receive gourmet lunch and a wine and
cheese gathering on the final day.
The Painting Gypsies will offer two workshops in St. Thomas. The
first is May 4-6 at Magen's Bay, St. Thomas', and the second is May
9-11 at Villa Botanica, a privately-owned plantation. The
three-night package features lodging, participation in the workshop,
transfers between the hotel and painting site provided by Tropic
Tours, and all taxes and surcharges. Guests who book Villa Olga for
either workshop pay $802 per room based on single occupancy, and
$1,172 per room based on double occupancy. Additional nights are
available at Villa Olga for $125 per night plus 15 percent taxes.
Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is offering the painting package for the
May 9-11 workshop only. Rates for the three-night package at Bolongo
are $980 per room based on single occupancy and $1,350 per room
based on double occupancy. Extra nights are available for $175 per
night plus 15 percent tax and $2 per day energy surcharge.

Product of the Week: Bolongo Bay Beach Club
Wednesday, November 9, 2005
There are a lot of advantages to all-inclusive resorts, but the food
is usually not one of them. Unless, of course, you're talking about
Bolongo Bay Beach Resort in St. Thomas, which features a la carte
cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
"Our all-inclusive guests have the option of enjoying incredible a la
carte dinners every night without a surcharge," says Richard Doumeng,
owner and managing director. "Bolongo never limits its guests to
buffet-style dining. Our a la carte dining options are available even
during our two buffet theme nights. I don't know of another
all-inclusive that can say, 'you never have to go through a buffet.'"
Bolongo's restaurants, The Beach House and Iggie's Beach Bar & Grill,
are known on the island for their relaxed atmospheres with spectacular
views from their open-air settings at poolside or right on the beach.
Plus, Doumeng says, the cuisine passes the most important test: local
approval.
"Our restaurants are open to and popular with locals and other
visitors," he explains. "We have to compete with every restaurant, so
our all-inclusive guests benefit. It's the same with drinks. Everything
is top-shelf, premium brands. Our local beer is offered, and you have a
wide variety to choose from."
Food choices at The Beach House include Caribbean Lobster Monte
Cristo, local yellow snapper roasted in banana leaves, and
plantain-crusted rack of lamb. At Iggie's, clients can enjoy
all-you-can-eat crab legs and a raw bar menu, as well as nightly food
and drink specials.
Bolongo also has plenty to offer to clients who aren't interested in
all-inclusive vacationing. Its VI Keys package is a 5-night romp
through the Virgin Islands' popular attractions like Coral World Ocean
Park, Trunk Bay (St. John's most popular beach) and the St. Thomas
Skyride. Clients will also enjoy an island tour of St. John and shuttles
to Magen's Bay and Charlotte Amalie, plus a 1-day Avis
car rental, a scuba diving in-pool lesson and use of kayaks, aqua
tricycles, sunfish sailboats, windsurfing equipment, paddle boats and
snorkel equipment.
The VI Keys package starts at $1,147 per couple through Dec.
15 and $1,717 from Dec. 23-April 16, 2006. For more information, call
