Paws for Vacation and Save a Life on St. Thomas
Bolongo Bay Beach Resort has partnered with the Humane Society of St. Thomas for an island pet adoption program.
Our fun-loving family at Bolongo Bay wants the fun to continue long after you return home with the help of a new furry friend. It’s the best souvenir you can find and will bring you a lifetime of memories.
Paws for Vacation – Room discount and pets fly home free
Guests who “Paws for Vacation” and adopt a cat or dog from the Humane Society of St. Thomas will receive a 30% discount on the room-only plan in both Oceanview and Beachfront rooms, located just steps from the sand.
The discount will be credited to your account once the adoption is final.
The offer is not combinable with any other promotion and a minimum five-night stay is required to allow time to process the paperwork and health certifications for the adopted animal.
On the first day of your vacation, we will also provide complimentary roundtrip taxi to the Humane Society of St. Thomas to meet your new family member and begin the adoption process. The process typically takes three business days.
There are so many sweet and loving cats and dogs in the shelter looking for forever homes. Just like Kasey, who Richard and Katarina recently adopted. See available CATS and DOGS looking for a home.
The cost to adopt is $100 for a dog and $75 for a cat. This covers a vet check-up, vaccinations, getting the animal spayed or neutered, and a health certificate.
Even better than saving on a beach vacation and saving a life, the adopted animal will fly home free on American Airlines under the seat or in the cargo hold area. The Humane Society will also provide a complimentary pet carrier, which it asks new owners to ship back to benefit other island animal adoptees.
To fly home free, you will make arrangements with the airline to add a pet to your reservation. American Airlines will provide a record locator number and advise of a fee. However, when the Humane Society brings your new pet to the airport to check in, the fee will be waived by the local gate agent.
Lend a Paw – Volunteer to fly a pet home, receive a dining credit
Guests who are not able to adopt a pet can still “Lend a Paw” to help.
The Humane Society of St. Thomas has a need for volunteers to accompany animals on American Airlines flights to the US to meet an adopting family or transfer to a new shelter.
Flights are typically to Boston, New York City, Washington DC and Minneapolis. Guests simply have to be willing to let the animal fly with them on their reservation and no cost is involved thanks to American Airlines partnership with the Humane Society of St. Thomas.
Guests of Bolongo Bay Beach Resort who volunteer to fly back with a pet will receive a $50 dining credit to use at either of our restaurants during your stay. Opportunities to fly back will be posted at the resort and available in the Front Desk.
We have also teamed up with Give Tanks, a socially conscious tank top company, created by Mikael Doumeng, Kappes Chatfield & Mark Anspach, which strives to cultivate global hope by reminding anyone who sees its graphics to be "tankful" for the little things in life. They recently won the people's choice award for The Dell challenge for young social innovators dedicating themselves to solving the world's most pressing problems with their ideas.
Each of their tank top design symbolizes something that we 'give tanks' for. Their designs are simplistic, much like the simple message they are trying to share. 25% of all profits are going to support Give Tanks projects. Give Tanks' first mission is in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua, with Give Tanks profits going directly to buying school supplies & school uniforms for the 'cicos', or preschool children!!.
Along that mission they partnered with Lucky Paws Foundation in St. Thomas, whose mission is to end homelessness for our islands cats and dogs and transform St.Thomas into a NO KILL island.
50% of all proceeds from the special edition dog and cat tank top will be donated to Lucky Paws, funds which will be used specifically for spaying and neutering our island's pets.
