From Long Island to the Virgin Islands. We have celebrated 33 years of hospitality at Bolongo Bay since we made The Virgin Islands our home in 1974. Dick and Joyce Doumeng became the owners and managers of the property in 1974. Personal involvement with both guests and co-workers was their top priority. That simple idea made a success of Bolongo almost immediately, culminating with Dick & Joyce being awarded the Caribbean Hotel Association's Hotelier of the year in 1988, still the only couple ever to win.
30 years later Dick & Joyce have retired. The next generation has taken over with Richard Doumeng as the Managing Director, and his wife Katarina as the Reservations/Sales Manager. Paul Doumeng is the General Manager and his wife Colleen the Advertising Manager. Cousin Scott Nieboer is the Operations Manager, and his wife Iselah our Front Office Manager. We began with 36 rooms on Bolongo Beach. From managers to housekeepers, many of our loyal, dedicated staff have been with us for years, and our extended family includes them.
