My wife and I discovered Bolongo Bay in 1976 and fell in love with it, and have been coming back almost every year since. Since then more rooms have been added but Bolongo has remained true to itself to remain informal, comfortable, fun and for the visitor to be part of the family. When our daughter came along she joined us and Bolongo became a very large part of her life. She had more than fun, she learned to swim, scuba, and other water sports, and growing up. She baby sat for the owner’s children, spent a summer working there, got married in the Cathedral in town with two nights of beach parties plus the reception at Bolongo. Now she has a baby boy and will start bringing him here this year as we did with her. Who knew in 1976 that we were starting a family tradition and that Bolongo would be such a large part of our lives? There will be three generations of us in the water and on the beach all with our own stories and memories.
Lara and Neel Choudry were married at St. Peter & Paul Cathedral in downtown Charlotte Amalie on June 23, 2007. The reception afterwards was on the beach out in front of Iggies.
Stan and daughter Lara are both enthusiastic scuba divers after getting certified years ago with the St. Thomas Dive Club Here’s a picture of Lara and her new husband on the dive boat with the owner of the STDC Andre Webber.
