St. Thomas is one of the best islands to visit in the Caribbean for numerous reasons. Aside from the breathtaking views and superb coasts, there are fun activities for the whole family! The wedding and honeymoon industry is huge here, which tends to attract every kind of visitor. There are excursions on land or at sea that appeal to the adventurous travelers, restaurants to impress the food lovers, fun bars for sipping tropical drinks, shopping galore, relaxing beaches, and even world-class golfing!
Mahogany Run Golf Course is a great place to spend the day, and is a favorite for golf fans locally and internationally! The 6000 yard, par 70 course was opened in 1980, and since then has golfers, non-golfers, celebrities, and even presidents to its challenging fairways and lush greens. The course is located on the northern shore of St. Thomas, offering scenic views of the ocean, hills, and even the neighboring U.S. and British Virgin Islands. The most noteworthy part of the course is the famous ‘Devil’s Triangle’, a three-hole stretch of challenging play! This area includes the par-3 14th hole, which is located 200 feet above a rocky inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. If that doesn’t sound intriguing, I don’t know what will!
Even if you aren’t a golf fan, check out the onsite restaurants, shops, and the local flora and fauna! You can always spot the familiar flamboyant and mahogany trees, iguanas, pelicans, mongoose, bananaquits, and maybe if you’re lucky you’ll even be able to catch a glimpse of the seasonal, migrating hump-back whales! Guests from Bolongo Bay rave about the terrific golfing, and some of their staff have even won tournaments held at Mahogany Run!
