The US Virgin Islands is home to some of the best water sports activities in the world! Visitors flock to St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix year-round to experience the scenic views, crystal clear water, world-class diving, and many other ocean adventures!

St. Thomas is positioned in the middle of the intersection between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Whether you are technically in the Caribbean Sea, or the Atlantic, the water here is beautiful! The average water temperature in the summer is 82 degrees Fahrenheit, and 80 in the winter, with diving visibility ranging from 60-100 feet. With perfect conditions such as those, it’s no wonder the VI is home to more than 500 different fish species, 40 types of coral and hundreds of marine invertebrates, like starfish, sponges, and octopus! To top it off, St. Thomas has more than 40 different dive sites easily accessible by boat or by land.

St. Thomas is a diver’s paradise, attracting visitors from all over the world to explore our pristine waters. Whether you travel to the islands as an experienced diver, or you are interested in trying it for the first time, there are many dive operators to choose from! All dive shops are familiar with the local dive sites, and one of the most popular, the St. Thomas Diving Club, is located at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort on St. Thomas. St. Thomas Diving Club was founded in the 1970’s and has been a staple of Bolongo Bay’s allure ever since! The resort offers a free ‘Discover SCUBA’ lesson to all their guests, as well as complementary snorkel gear, courtesy of the dive shop! Their friendly staff is always willing to organize excursions to nearby dive sights and even a few local shipwrecks!
